Why has my bank account been debited on the 2nd when I just signed up in the last week of last month?
You are billed for the pro rata subscriptions from the period you have signed up, till the end of the month. This is billed on the 1st of the new month, and because payment is due on the invoice the debit order has been submitted for payment on the 2nd.
