Where to find and disable the battery optimisation and power-saving features on iOS.
Turn off battery optimisation to keep your VoIP soft phone active. iOS uses two key features to manage power saving, namely: screen time and background app refresh.
- While the settings listed below are current, please note that the layout and other system settings may change without notice.
Screen Time
- Go to 'Settings'
- Select 'Screen Time'
- Select 'Always Allowed'
- Search for your VoIP softphone app (i.e Voys App, Linphone, Zoiper, Bria Solo)
- Tap the Green Plus to turn it into a Red Minus.
Background App Refresh
- Go to ''Settings'
- Click on 'General'
- Select 'Background App Refresh'
- Check that 'Background App Refresh' is on, and that your VoIP softphone app (i.e Voys App, Linphone, Zoiper, Bria Solo) setting here is also toggled on
If Background App Refresh is grayed out
- Disable low-power mode by going to 'Settings'
- Go to 'Battery'.
- If Background App refresh is still greyed out, or you are not using low-power mode you may have restrictions enabled.
- Go to 'Settings'
- Select 'Screen Time'
- Select 'Content & Privacy Restrictions'
- Enter your screen time password
- Go to 'Background App Activities'
- Select 'Allow'.
- If everything in 'Content & Privacy Restrictions' is greyed out that means you have no restrictions enabled.
Note:
The iOS operating system will sometimes shut down apps to free up memory for other applications regardless of the power-saving options.
You can alleviate this issue by manually shutting down unnecessary background apps to free up memory on the phone
