What’s a dial plan extension?
Dial plan extensions are dial plans that are not yet linked to a phone number. This is useful when you need to create multiple or longer dial plans or when you want to set up extensive routing. Additionally, you can easily switch between different dial plans.
- A dial plan extension has an internal number so you can reach and test it internally. It can only be reached externally when you add it to a dial plan or copy its content to a dial plan, since a dial plan has an external phone number.
- When you have included a dial plan extension in your dial plan, you cannot add any more steps after the dial plan extension since the routing continues in your dial plan extension.
