A dial plan extension is intended to save an existing dial plan, so you can use it more often. This is useful for more complex call plans or just as a backup.
From your regular dial plan, you can refer to a dial plan extension. This prevents you from creating very long and confusing dial plans. It can also be useful if you want to use certain parts of your dial plan multiple times, for example, in a menu.
To set up a dial plan extension, do the following:
- Log in to Freedom.
- Click on Dial Plans.
- Go to 'Dial Plan Extensions'.
- Click Add.
- Choose an internal number, for example, 801.
- Optionally give the extension a description, such as "Menu".
- Optionally copy an existing dial plan.
- Click 'Save & go to call plan' or 'Save'.
You can now add the extension to your main dial plan.
- Click Dial Plans.
- Select the phone number where the dial plan extension should be placed.
- Click Add Step where you want the extension.
- Check 'Dial plan extension' in the first table.
- Check the internal number and any description you gave the extension in the second table.
- Click Save.
