While talking to our customers, we’ve come across a few options your Aastra phone can do, and we’ve explained them on this page. Keep in mind that there may be differences between phone types. There are more features available, so be sure to check your phone’s manual or search online for additional details.
1. Changing the internal number
If you have changed the internal number of a VoIP account in freedom.voys.nl, the internal number on your device's display doesn't automatically update. This is because the number display on your device is independent of the data in Freedom.
- Go to Freedom.
- Go to Admin.
- Click on VoIP-account.
- Choose the VoIP account for which you want to change the internal number (In this example 201/Bet Weter).
- Here you can change the internal number, for example from 201 to 208.
- Click on Save.
The change to the internal number is not yet reflected on your device. To update this on your device, you need to log in to the web interface of the device. You can access the web interface by entering the IP address of your device in your web browser. How to find this is explained below for each device type.
- Press the menu key and navigate to Status. Then select Network and then TCP/IP Parameters.
- Enter the IP address in a browser, possibly with https:// before the IP address.
- Log in with the default password 456.
- Click on Simple Setup and then on Sip Line Identification.
- For both Address and Authentication User ID, enter your VoIP account ID.
- Click on Save.
2. Setting up encrypted calling
This guide only describes how to set up encrypted calling.
By default, calls between your device and the Voys telephony platform are unencrypted over your network and the internet. By using encryption, your calls are encrypted only between your phone and our platform.
Both the SIP packets and the audio itself (RTP) can be encrypted. This ensures that no one can listen to your conversation by intercepting network packets. We use TLS to encrypt the SIP packets. The RTP audio is secured using SRTP.
This guide only describes how to set up encrypted calling.
- Log in to Freedom.
- Click on Admin in the menu bar.
- Go to VoIP-account.
- Select the account with which you want to use encrypted calling.
- Select the tab Advanced SIP settings.
- Check the box next to Force encryption.
- You will now see a popup indicating that additional changes need to be made to your phone.
- Click on Continue.
- Click on Save at the bottom of the page.
Adjust the proxy for registration and the transport protocol on your device.
- Proxy sip.encryptedsip.com:5061
- Transport protocol: TLS
The device is now registered with encryption on our platform. To also encrypt the calls themselves, SRTP must be activated on the device itself. The method for adjusting this varies significantly by device, but it can be configured on almost any VoIP device. Consult the manual for your device for instructions.
You can quickly check if your devices are encrypted using the following method:
- Log in to Freedom.
- Go to Admin.
- Go to VoIP-Account.
- Go to the VoIP Account for the device in question. If there is a lock in the green dot, then it is encrypted. If not, then it is not encrypted.
