Setup your Linphone
This page provides setup instructions for the Linphone softphone application. Please note that Linphone is not a Voys product, and we can only assist with the connection process. For other support related to the Linphone softphone, please contact Linphone directly.
Setting up Linphone in desktop
Linphone is a free softphone application with many useful features such as call forwarding and creating an address book. For Windows, Mac, iOS, Linux, and Android, you can download the softphone here.
- If you're on the Welcome screen, click on Use a SIP Account.
You will get a notification about what is not possible when you set up Linphone via Voys, click on I Understand.
1. VoIP Account Configuration
We will now connect your telephone platform to Linphone.
- For Username, enter your VoIP account ID.
- Go to Freedom
- Click on Admin
- Then on VoIP-account.
- Behind the VoIP account, you will see the account ID. Hover over it to copy it.
- For Display name enter the internal number of your VoIP account.
- Enter for SIP Domain: ha.voys.nl
- For Password, enter your VoIP account password.
- For Transport, select UDP.
- Then click on Use.
- Check in the top left if the correct SIP account is selected. If you see something like sip:linphone, click on it.
- Change this by clicking on sip@ha.voys.nl.
- Then press Ok.
2. Adding Contacts
We have also tried to add a contact that doesn't have a VoIP account. You put the phone number in the SIP Account field and then you can call them. We just don't know if this will continue to work this way and if it works for all phone numbers (think of international calling).
- Click on Contacts.
- Click on Add Contact.
- For Display name enter the internal number of your VoIP account.
- For SIP Account, enter the Account ID of your colleague's VoIP Account.
- Press Save.
You can fill in the other fields, but this is not necessary to create a contact.
If you now want to call a colleague internally, you can simply enter their name. You no longer need to remember the internal number.
3. Call Forwarding
With Linphone, you can answer calls and forward them to a colleague. This is only possible without consultation/cold transfer. Without consultation means that you forward the call immediately, without first speaking to your colleague.
- Answer the incoming call (green phone icon in the pop-up at the bottom of your screen).
- Click on the 3 horizontal 'menu' lines to the left of the caller's phone number.
- Click on Transfer call.
- Enter your colleague's name in the search bar that appears. You can also enter a regular phone number here if you want to forward the call externally.
- Click on the arrow in the circle next to your colleague's name. The call is transferred to your colleague. You can no longer take the call back.

FAQ
Some alternative VoIP apps may work where the Voys app doesn’t — especially on devices with limited or no Google services, like some Huawei phones.
Linphone is a good option if you want to avoid Google services. The version on F-Droid is stripped of Google components like Crashlytics, making it a more privacy-friendly choice.
These apps aren’t developed by Voys, so while they may work, we can’t provide full support for them.
There could be many reasons, but always verify that push notifications are enabled in the Linphone. If this is disabled, the app will not ring.
