What to expect on this page
Don’t see your phone in our help center? No worries. This page walks you through the setup for any VoIP phone, step by step.
Step 1: Is your device brand new or second-hand?
First, determine if your device is brand new or has been used previously.
Brand new device
You’re good to go. Continue to step 2.
Used device (from a previous provider or bought second-hand)
Do a factory reset first. Old settings from a previous provider can interfere with the setup.
Step 2: Finding the IP address of your device
To configure your phone, you’ll need to access its web interface. Here’s how:
- Make sure your phone is connected to the internet.
- Use a laptop or computer on the same network as your phone.
- Find the IP address of your phone (usually listed in the device settings under Network or Status, as IPv4 or IPv6).
- Look up the default login credentials in your device’s manual.
- Open a browser and go to
https://192.168.1.1(replace with your phone’s actual IP address). - Log in. Some devices skip the login screen entirely.
Having trouble? Here are some tips
Web interface not accessible:
Some devices require you to enable web access in the device settings first. Check the manual if you’re not sure how.
Can’t find the IP address.
This is usually a network issue. Try these:
- Plug the internet cable directly from your router into the phone. If it gets an IP address this way, the issue is likely with your switch or intermediate device.
- Make sure the phone is set to DHCP. This lets the router assign an IP address automatically. If it’s set to a static IP, switch to DHCP.
- Check for IP conflicts: every device on your network needs a unique IP address. Restarting your router and phone can help.
- Test the phone on a different network to rule out your current setup.
- Check your router’s firewall settings, it might be blocking the phone.
“No access” when entering the IP address
- Make sure your computer and phone are on the same network.
- Your browser might warn about a security risk. You can usually bypass this safely, as long as you trust your own network.
- Try a different browser if one gives you trouble.
Step 3: Connecting to a VoIP Account
Now that you’re in the web interface, link your phone to the right VoIP account.
Find your VoIP account details:
- Go to VoIP Accounts.
- Find the VoIP account you want to connect. The linked user is shown in the second row.
- Use the internal number (e.g.,
201) as your display name — it makes it easy to identify the phone. - Note the Account ID (row 3) and Password (row 4).
Configure Your Phone:
- Some phones require you to enable the line or account you are setting up.
- Look for the SIP account or line settings in your phone's web interface. The exact location and labels vary per device, but you're looking for these fields:
- Display Name / Label — use the internal number (e.g.,
201). - Username / SIP User ID / Auth ID — enter the Account ID.
- Authentication Password — enter the password.
- Enable — some phones require you to explicitly activate the account line.
- The names of these fields differ per brand, but the values are always the same.
- Check your device's manual if you're not sure where to find them.
- Save your settings when done.
Step 4: Registration with the Platform
Now register your phone with our platform:
- Server Host / Proxy:
ha.voys.nl - Port:
6060 - Transport / SIP Protocol:
- Grandstream: TLS/TCP
- Polycom: UDP
- All other phones: DNS NAPTR
- Server / Subscription Expires:
1800seconds - Outbound Proxy: use the same host and port as above.
Save your settings. Your phone should now be registered and ready to use.
Step 5: Additional Settings
A few tweaks to get the best performance out of your device:
- Audio / Codec: Set to
PCMA (G711.a)for the best call quality. - UDP Keep-alive Interval: Set to
15 secondsto keep the connection stable. - RPort: Enable this for proper NAT traversal.
- Date & Time: Set to your local time zone. If your device supports it, use an NTP server for automatic sync.
- Local SIP Port: If you’re using multiple phones, assign each one a unique SIP port. For example: if your Account ID is
123400007, set the Local SIP Port to5067(5060 + the last digits of the Account ID).
Save your settings, then test:
- Make an outgoing call to confirm the phone works.
- Call your own number to check that it rings.
