Using the Voys App on a privacy-focused phone (e.g., Brix3)

Many privacy phones use microG as a replacement for Google Play Services. The Voys App needs these services for notifications and connectivity.

1. Go to Settings
2. Open Apps
3. Find and open Voys
4. Make sure Google Services / microG is allowed
5. Ensure the app can receive notifications, without this permission, the Voys App may not be able to receive incoming calls.

The Voys App needs access to audio to make and receive calls.

1. Go to Settings
2. Open Apps
3. Select Voys
4. Go to Permissions
5. Make sure the following permissions are allowed:

• Microphone
• Phone
• Notifications
• Sound / Audio

On some privacy phones, the Exploit Protection security feature can interfere with audio for VoIP apps.

For the Voys App, Compatibility Mode must be enabled.

To set this:

1. Go to Settings
2. Open Apps
3. Select Voys
4. Go to Advanced Settings

Depending on the device, you may find the option here:

• Exploit Protection / Compatibility Mode
• or via App info → three dots → Exploit Protection Compatibility
• Turn Compatibility Mode ON

After adjusting the settings:

1. Close the Voys App completely
2. Reopen the app
3. Test an incoming or outgoing call
4. If audio or calling still doesn’t work, try restarting your phone or logout and in again in the Voys App

Check again:

• That microG / Google Services are active
• That microphone permissions are allowed
• That Exploit Protection Compatibility Mode is enabled

It can also help to toggle the above settings off and on again. Some privacy phones only fully apply changes after the permissions have been reset.
